SWAYAMBHU VINAYAKUDU - KANIPAAKAM TEMMPLE
Kanipakam is the one of the historic places of Vinayaka in Andhra Pradesh. Kanipakam is a combination of two words i.e. Kani and Pakam. The meaning Kani & Pakam is an area of land used for growing crops.
Here in Kanipakam, we can see "SWAYAMBHU" (Self-manifested) Vinayakudu. The Idol of Vinayaka is located in the Well. The holy water from the well is offered to the devotees as theertham. The idol of lord Vinayaka in Kanipakam is that it is still growing in size.
In the early 11th century, the Kanipaakam temple was constructed by the Chola king Kulothunga Chola I and was expanded further in 1336 by the Emperors of Vijayanagara dynasty.
